The R129 series was an ideal ground for AMG, which produced a series of extremely interesting elaborations. The most powerful version of the R129 series, the SL73, was the most powerful Mercedes of all the cars in the catalog at the time. Production of the SL73 AMG began in April 1999 and ended in May 2001. The car, with a 7291cc engine, had 525hp against the 394 of the original car.
