Schuco 450919300 PORSCHE - 904 GTS 1964
The Porsche 904 Carrera GTS was a revolutionary car and the ancestor of all modern sports and racing cars. It was projected with a central engine, fibreglass bodywork on a steel chassis. The mechanicals were essentially those of the 2 litres 356 Carrera but with more power (155 bhp). The Carrera GTS was a commercial success, more exemplars selling than the minimum required for GT homologation. The Carrera GTS could be driven as a road car but was a sensational racing car, winning the Targa Florio in 1964 and many other major races. The car would eventually be fitted with 6 and 8 cylinder engines. The further development of the 904 Carrera GTS was the 906 Carrera 6, presented in 1966.
