Schuco 450041200 BMW Isetta Exp Police
To meet the ever increasing demand for mobility during the famous German economic miracle of the 1950s, BMW presented the two-seater „MotoCoupé“ BMW Isetta in 1955. Also known as the „bubble car“ due to its round shape, this hugely popular microcar from Munich was powered by a 12-horsepower motorcycle engine. Due to its 250cc engine, the Isetta could also be driven on a motorcycle licence. Costing roughly 2,580 German marks, the Isetta helped draw many former motorcyclists into the world of cars. At total of 161,360 Isettas were manufactured between 1955 and 1962. Until the end of the 1960’s, a few examples of the Isetta were also used by various police departments and are now among the most sought-after collector’s items on the Isetta scene.
